Commissioned as the featured artist for the November 2026 issue of Boston Compass Newspaper, I created an original editorial illustration series titled Seasonal ILLness. Inspired by the colder months and the familiar experience of everyone getting sick as the weather changes, the project uses a cast of expressive, grotesque cartoon characters to turn seasonal illness into something playful, strange, and humorous.

Drawing from Grotesque Cartoonism, I developed the issue’s visual direction through exaggerated character design, bold typography, custom textures, and black-and-white spot illustrations. The full project included the front cover, poster, illustrated title treatment, small supporting illustrations, and additional patterns/textures, creating a cohesive visual identity across the publication.
